In 1978, the Department of Management Engineering at the Central South Institute of Mining and Metallurgy was initiated.

In 1981, the first round of undergraduate students in the major of Management Engineering were recruited.

In 1982, the Department of Management Engineering at the Central South Institute of Mining and Metallurgy was officially founded.

​In 1983, the Department of Management Engineering was approved to confer the Master degree in Management Engineering.

In 1992, the Department of Management Engineering at Central South University of Technology (the former Central South Institute of Mining and Metallurgy) was divided into the Department of Management Engineering and the Department of Economics and Trade.

In 1996, the Department of Management Engineering and the Department of Economics and Trade was mergered,and the School of Business Administration was founded.

In 1996, the Department of Management Engineering was approved to confer doctoral degree in Management Science and Engineering.

In 1998, the Economics Department of Changsha College of Technology was incorporated into the school of Business Administration at Central South University of Technology.

In 1998, the MBA programme started recruiting.

In 2000, a post-doctoral research station of Management Science and Engineering was established.

In 2002, the Economics and Management School at Changsha Railway Institute was incorporated into the School of Administration of Central South University of Technology.

In 2002, the Business School of Central South University(CSU) was founded.

In 2005, the Department of Management Engineering was approved to confer the first-level disciplinary doctoral degree in Business Administration.

In 2005, a post-doctoral research station of Business Administration was established.

In 2007, the discipline of Management Science and Engineering in the Business school of CSU, as a first-level discipline,was awarded as a national key discipline.

In 2009, the EMBA programme started recruiting.

In 2015, the Business Schoolobtained AMBA International Accreditation.

In 2017, Management Science and Engineering was awarded "A-" in the fourth round of discipline assessment.

In 2020, Applied Economics was granted the right to confer doctoral degree.

In 2023, New Business Buildingwas officially put into use.

In 2023, the Business Schoolobtained AACSB International Accreditation.
